About Us
Published every Tuesday and Saturday by Nick Ravenshade, WarCommons covers the full breadth of the Second World War. From the political failures of the interwar years to the battles, people, strategies and weapons that defined the conflict, and the shadow it left behind.
Beyond the articles, WarCommons is a community. Subscribe to YANK, our weekly newsletter, or join the conversation on Discord with readers who take WWII history as seriously as you do.
WarCommons is not an archive of loose pieces, but a continuous WWII experience for readers who can’t get enough of history.

What is WarCommons?
Long-form Deep Dives, shorter explainers, biographical portraits, strategy analysis and the stories history almost forgot.

Meet Our Team

Nick Ravenshade
Founder and Editorial Director, WarCommons
Nick Ravenshade, LL.B., founded WarCommons out of a lifelong obsession with the Second World War.
He has spent years reading the histories, the memoirs, the declassified files, and the scholarship. And WarCommons is where that research becomes writing.
His features aim to do what the best military history does: take readers inside the decisions, the institutions, and the ordinary lives that the war consumed,
without simplifying what was genuinely complicated. He holds a law degree and applies that habit of evidence and argument to everything he publishes here.
What Makes WarCommons Different?
History Built Around WWII
A Community, Not Just a Website
Every article on WarCommons is thoroughly researched and written with a clear point of view. No filler, no Wikipedia rewrites, and NO AI. Just history that earns your time.
WarCommons covers one era and covers it properly. Deep Dives up to 4,000 words. Short explainers. Biographical portraits. Arms and equipment. The full picture, one story at a time.
Join the conversation on our Discord. Discuss articles, share knowledge, and connect with readers who take WWII history as seriously as you do.
